我的世界杯结束了。

随着自己喜欢的球星（和球队）一一告别世界杯，
我也……唉。
卡卡哭了，梅西没戏了，我也心碎了。
只希望西班牙可以争气一点，加油！

4年前的帖子勾起了许多美好的回忆。
回顾了4年前这个时候的自己，
实在是太热血了~
当时自己记录了几乎所有比赛的比分和心得。
搞得自己现在好想个伪球迷似的，哈。
所以现在要写下一切。

group stages. all seemed fine until switzerland dealt a huge blow and upsetted hot favourites spain. and almost immediately, serbia stunned germany. the surprises this world cup offer do not stop here. portugal swept n.korea aside with a 7-0 scoreline. england huffed and puffed and, thankfully, qualified for the knock-out stages (only to face mighty germany). USA's last minute ticket to the last-16. domanech should be sacked 2yrs ago. oh well, we saw the ugly side of les bleus. italy coming alive during the last 90min of their world cup journey.

heroes. s.africa, being the first host unable to qualify for the knock-out stages, showed us their best and exited with pride. s.korea, the tireless machines, challenged uruguay and did asia proud. japan and their newfound star honda, showed us asians can do tactical football too. maicon with the most beautiful goal in this campaign, an almost 0-degree shot. suarez, hero or villian, without him (and his "hand of God"), uruguay will not be where they are today.

falling short. torres still terribly off-form after a 2month break. rooney left world cup with zero goals and close to zero assists. c.ron unable to fit into the portugal team. kaka a pale shadow of himself, and the target of fouls. messi, a striker talent wasted in the midfielder position. drogba, as good as being ruled off because of injuries. england, brazil, argentina. world cup journeys stopped prematurely, with campaigns that promised much more.

new names. honda, a free-kick that reminds us of the famous beckham. muller, another upcoming football star carrying the proud name. gyan, hero (and subsequent villian) of ghana.

directors. what else can i say of the refereeing standards of this world cup? a red card for 9 consecutive days? red card to kaka for a ridiculous act by some random ivory coast guy? and lots of errors with the sideline? optical illusion for the england goal perhaps?

samba died. sambal died in quarters again, along with my world cup. football fans tend to be irrational and subjective. as long as there is one bit we like about the team, we will tend to neglect every other (random) things and believe 100% in our team. like any other brazil fan, i can literally SEE brazil in the finals with argentina. but that didn't happen. despite achieving record-breaking results this world cup (5 s.american teams in last-16!), only 1 managed to survive to the semis. sigh. double shock. need time to heal. definitely.

germany bulldozer. really interesting team. preferred this germany team so much more than the previous versions. fufu.
